“We won!”

0211181249Last week my first grader was playing at one of her best friend’s house.  Sitting in the kitchen visiting when I went to pick her up, the BFF’s mom was giggling.  She explained that the girls have been playing basketball outside against each other.  They kept running in and out of the house, jumping up and down saying, “WE WON!”  They were playing against each other, but they both won.

Two little girls’ joy came from something that escapes almost all of us at one time or another.  We can do our best, enjoy ourselves, play hard, and win.  We can celebrate someone else’s effort.  We can rejoice together.

The world says that there is always a winner.  The world says you are loser.  The world encourages the strong and stomps on the weak.  It doesn’t have to be that way.  A 6 year old and a 7 year old are the proof.

With Christ we can be just like these little ones.  We can thrive without animosity, without jealousy, without hate, without hard feelings.  We can thrive with joy, excitement, love.  Amazing!

We do not have to gloat in ourselves.  We boast in God.  We do not have to be down trodden.  We can celebrate because He walks with us. Jesus teaches us this everyday! There is enough of Him for all!

As a Christian, there will be enough of me too because Christ lives in me.  Because of Him, I have enough for all that I meet!

Take it on! Be the one that gives to all.  Not just to the most talented.  Not just to the one that wins on the world’s scoreboard.  As Christians God gives us enough and more!

Am I giving my best to everyone that I touch?  Are the qualities of Jesus present in every act that I perform?

Honestly, I can tell you I fall short.  I know it.  I thankful for my Savior,  for His mercy and grace. With Him, all things are possible, even for me.

“But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.” Luke 22: 26
