This morning this memory from “8 Years Ago” popped up on my Facebook feed. I am grateful that this small post was made. Honestly, I don’t remember making it. It made my heart smile. Funny how the small things make a big difference in our daily lives.
In contrast, “Remembrance” is a big word. Almost too big for us to truly be able to feel and touch in our daily world. Even so, “Remembrance” is important to our being.
Today we remember our Veteran’s. Again the contrast is striking, Veteran’s seems like some one far away. However, in reality, Veteran’s are our dads, our moms, our brothers, our sisters, our friends, and our neighbors. Memories of their experience of service shape who they are. Memories of both good and bad change them and us.
As a Christians, we are asked to remember Jesus’s sacrifice for us.
“For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:7-8
“And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.'” Luke 22: 19-20
Please today remember the sacrifice that these men and women have made for each of us in service. Take into your life today. Make it personal. Do something small to make a difference in some one’s life. Share a little of your heart.
And give glory to God for sending His son for the sacrifice and hope through Him.
