Wake Up, Smell the Coffee

1202160833_burst06This one is for Lucy.  Lucy is a sweetheart.  She probably doesn’t even know it.  For Christmas a few years back, she gave my husband, Mark, coffee beans & a grinder.  Now, at the time, I barely drank coffee.  In case you didn’t know this, all coffee is not created equal.  The good stuff smells wonderful!

However, grinding coffee is an acquired skill.  Yes, grinding is messy, especially, if you are a novice!  So Mark started grinding his own coffee.  At first I was sincerely not happy with his mess.  Sometimes the grinds were all over.  Sometimes only in my coffee cup because he somehow missed the filter.  With practice he got better.  I began to love the smell of that fresh ground coffee brewing.  Then I began to love the coffee he made.  Now I wake up to that smell every morning.  I look forward to that smell, that taste, that warm feeling to start my day.

Well, a couple of weeks ago the most tragic thing happened.  I accidentally ran out of the good coffee beans.  Yes, I went & bought coffee beans from the grocery store.  I was thinking, “Oh, they will be alright.”  Guess what, they don’t taste the same, they don’t smell the same, they are not same.  The good stuff is different.

So, I ordered coffee.  Lots of coffee.  Coffee for us.  Coffee for Christmas presents.  Coffee to share.  The funniest thing happened.  When the UPS man delivered my big box of coffee, he told Lucy that I needed to order coffee more often.  He said it made his truck smell so good.

So Lucy, you didn’t know it, but your coffee gift has touched a lot of people.  We enjoy your gift every morning!

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.  For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.” 2 Corinthians :14-17

Friends, “Wake Up & Smell the Coffee”. Smell the Good stuff. Christ everyday!
